L'IMAGE:
L'Image originally included friends Mike Mainieri, Warren Bernhardt,
Steve Gadd, and Tony Levin. They were all living in Woodstock at the
time and decided to devote several months to developing the music.
They rehearsed in Mainieri's barn, which was converted into a studio,
and played at the Joyous Lake (Woodstock), The Red Creek Inn
(Rochester, New York: Gadd's home), and New York City. At a later
date the quartet added guitarist David Spinozza, who also toured
with the group.
To much dismay of their worshippers, the group was short-lived, but
they did manage to record some of the music on Mike Mainieri's solo albums, 'Love Play' and 'Wanderlust.' After and since, the members played with each other in various groups and recordings. Finally,
L'Image reunited in 2009, recorded and released a CD titled "2.0."
In 2009, they played shows in New York City and Japan.
In 2011, they recorded their second album in Catskill, NY
w/Scott Petito at NRS Studio. It will be released in the near future.

perversely titling it 2.0

L'IMAGE @ THE IRIDIUM IN NYC 2.2009:
The Iridium Jazz Club welcomes L'Image. This reunited group includes
four members of famed jazz fusion ensemble Steps Ahead: vibraphonist
and Downbeat Critics Poll winner Mike Mainieri, former Steely Dan music director Warren Bernhardt, plus veteran session musicians Steve Gadd
and Tony Levin. Guitarist David Spinozza has recorded with Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon and James Taylor.

L'IMAGE IN JAPAN 9.2009:
"Much awaited tour of Japan with my old friends, and musical cohorts,
in the band L'Image. First show will be tonight, at the Tokyo Jazz
Festival, but as always here in Japan there is a lot to look at and photograph, so I've got a few pictures from rehearsal day and
night here in Tokyo."

L'IMAGE @ THE IRIDIUM IN NYC 9.2009:
The new CD is wonderful. As always, you resisted the need to show
off and really played for the music. That is why you guys are so much admired. There are some really beautiful melodies on this record. It is
a grower. It is maybe a bit "quieter" than what I had expected but it is
a record with many layers. Every time I listen to it, I hear it differently.
It is deep and very emotional. You did this album for all the right
reasons. I have been a dedicated fan of yours for many years. You
all are wonderful musicians. I truly hope that this is not the last
album we hear from you.
